At the stillness of the water’s edge,
Stands a person, that takes the pledge,
A solemn vow, a holy rite,
To cleanse their soul and see the light.
The person bows their head in prayer,
As the pastor’s hand moves through the air,
The words of mercy and grace rings,
As peace descends on everything.
The water covers the head and heart,
This must be done, this special part.
It’s a must, that total immersion it has to be,
Because it’s what the Bible, states so clearly.
As the congregation stares and looks upon,
They remember their steps that made them come.
To leave behind their old life’s ways,
To live for Christ and give Him praise.
